Responsibility
While the
Department of Security is responsible for ensuring that our campus
remains as safe as possible, the primary responsibility for crime
prevention and personal safety rests with each individual. We can
protect ourselves, avoid unsafe situations, secure our personal belongs
as well as University property, report suspicious activity to Security,
and promote safety and security each day. The Department of Security
hopes to provide you with the tools and education necessary to make our
working environment as secure and safe as possible.

Crime Tip Hotline
Callers can
remain anonymous. All information will be kept confidential. Ask for

Investigations
Crime, wrong
doing, and serious policy violations will be prioritized and
investigated where possible. Security administrative officials review
security incident reports daily and follow up when the circumstances

Safety Matters Brochure
The UM Police Department and UM Security Departments
actively work to keep the University community informed about safety and
security on all campuses. The Safety Matters Brochure is published
annually in compliance with the Jeanne Cleary Disclosure of Campus
Security and Campus Crime Statistics Act. This guide may be
reviewed

or you may obtain printed copies by contacting your campus police or
