Reporting Procedures
Many people are reluctant and hesitant to
call for assistance or report unusual activity.
They are sometimes uncertain as to what they should say
or even if it is necessary to report their problem.
Please remember that it is better to be safe than
sorry. It is best
to get help as soon as possible.
For emergencies, call 305
243-6000
- Any criminal act
in progress
- Any act in progress that threatens
the safety or well being of yourself or another person
(includes chemical spill, fire, etc.)
- Any medical
problem
For
non-emergencies
call 305 243-SAFE (7233)
-
Reporting or seeking
assistance for any situation that is not likely to cause harm
unless dealt with immediately.
-
Getting directions
-
Reporting thefts
that occurred in the past
-
Requesting an escort
or jump start
When reporting any incident:
-
Speak clearly and slow.
-
Stay on the line until told by the
dispatcher to hang up.
-
Give your name, phone number, type of incident, building
and room number,
the number and physical description of any suspects and
the suspect’s vehicle description.
-
When reporting a medical emergency,
you may be repeatedly asked about the status of the victim, i.e. consciousness,
breathing, etc.
Report anything of a suspicious nature to
campus security without delay.
Do not allow strangers to roam about your work areas
unchallenged. Ask
if you can help them! If
they decline or if you feel uncomfortable or threatened,
don’t hesitate to call security.
Do not become involved in a verbal or physical
altercation.
Report all theft no matter how small.
Although the property may not be recovered, it will
provide very valuable statistics which aids in the
investigation of other thefts and planning of security
programs and patrols.
