Report any serious injury or illness
immediately!
Call Fire/Rescue by dialing "9" (to
get an outside line) and the number "911".
Give the following information to the
dispatcher:
- Nature of emergency.
- Location (Be specific: give address,
building, floor, office, room number, etc.)
- Telephone number you are calling from.
- Your name.
Remain on the telephone to assist the
dispatcher in obtaining additional information which may be
needed to assist Fire/Rescue in arriving promptly at your location.
Call the University of Miami Security
Department at (305) 243-6000.
Security officers will meet Fire/Rescue
personnel and direct them to your location.
Unless it is the patient's wish to be
treated elsewhere, the rescue unit should be asked to transport
him/her to the nearest emergency room.
Non-emergency injuries or illness:
Accompany him/her to Workers Compensation
Medical Center, 6504 NW 77 Ct., Miami, FL 33166, (305)
593-2174. If possible, phone ahead to alert them to the
problem, indicate that the patient is a University of Miami
medical school employee, and ask that the appropriate physician
be available to receive the patient.
Non-Emergency Medical Assistance
for OTHERS.
Students and guests are encouraged to seek
Non-Emergency medical assistance from their own health care
provider.
